Sorin Ozon is a freelance journalist and a co-founder of the Romanian Centre for Investigative Journalism (CRJI). He was director of the CRJI from 2001 until 2011.
As an investigative journalist he has written about connections between cross-border networks of organized crime and high level politicians and public functionaries. A series of articles he has written show links between Sicilian crime syndicate Cosa Nostra and associates of the former President of Romania and former director of the Romanian foreign secret service, the SIE.
He began working as a reporter in 1992 at daily newspaper Ora. He has been chief of the investigative department at Romanian dailies Jurnalul National and Evenimentul Zilei. At Jurnalul, he was also deputy editor. Sorin worked as a special reporter at satirical weekly Academia Catavencu and at Evenimentul Zilei.
