I was born in Constantaat the Black Sea. Eversince I was a kid, lying on the beach, I was dying to find out what was happening on the other side of the sea. Years have passed, and in the meantime I have worked as a photographer for various Romanian newspapers and magazines. I am a freelancer since 5 years now, and it is not necessarily that I want this, but I work for the international mass-media more often than for the local media. A list of the recent publications can be seen right here. I am supported in finding clients for photos by the following agencies: Panos Pictures, Getty Images, Shoot the Earth. I have earned several photography awards, I’ve had numerous group exhibitions – in June 2010 I am exhibiting my photos in Germany, within the Lumix Festival for Young Photojournalism. Personal photographic projects in Kenya, India, Bolivia, Afghanistan, Egipt, Romania – they may be seen on my site, www-petrut-calinescu.com.
